1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you use a website or app. They help the service remember who you are and how you like to use it.
This policy also covers browser session storage — a similar technology that works like a cookie but is automatically cleared the moment you close your browser tab. We use it for one specific purpose, explained below.
2. Essential cookies — always on
These cookies are required for InCynq to work. You cannot disable them — without them, you cannot log in or use the platform.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Session cookie | Keeps you logged in while you use the app | Session — deleted when you close the browser |
| Auth token | Authenticates your account securely | 7 days, or until you log out |
| CSRF token | Protects your account against security attacks | Session |
Legal basis: Necessary for contract performance — providing the service you signed up for.
3. Functional cookies — optional
These cookies remember your preferences so you don't have to set them every time. You can disable them in Settings.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Grid status | Remembers your last grid status setting | 30 days |
Legal basis: Consent. You can withdraw consent at any time in Settings.
4. Analytics session storage — brand content only
To make sure brand analytics are accurate and not inflated by someone scrolling past the same post five times, we use browser session storage to deduplicate events within a single session.
| Item | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| incynq_session_id | A random ID that groups events in the same session so one scroll-past counts as one impression, not many | Session only — cleared when you close your tab |
| pv_* / pi_* / prv_* | One-time flags that mark "this brand post or profile has already been logged in this session" | Session only — cleared when you close your tab |
Important things to know about this:
- This data never leaves your browser
- It is only used to decide whether to send an analytics event — it is not itself tracking data
- It applies only to brand content — resident posts are never tracked
- It contains no personal information, no browsing history, and no identifiers that could identify you
- Everything is cleared automatically the moment you close your browser tab
Legal basis: Legitimate interest — providing brands with accurate, non-inflated analytics on their own content, while protecting individual user privacy.
5. What we don't use
- No third-party advertising cookies
- No tracking pixels
- No social media tracking cookies
- No cross-site tracking of any kind
- No analytics on resident posts — only brand content
InCynq does not show ads from outside companies. The only sponsored content on InCynq comes from Second Life brands matched to your own chosen interests.
6. Managing cookies
Essential cookies cannot be disabled — the service cannot function without them. Functional cookies can be cleared through your browser settings at any time.
You can also manage or block cookies entirely through your browser settings. Note that disabling essential cookies will log you out and prevent you from using the platform.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted here with an updated date.
